New 5-Star Hotel Opens at Great Northern
The iconic Great Northern completes its hotel offering with a new building featuring 52 rooms and suites, seamlessly integrating nature, sustainability, and Danish design excellence.
With the construction of 52 new rooms in a completely new hotel building, as a direct extension of Great Northern, the hotel experience is completed. The hotel provides new opportunities to create memorable experiences for even more guests.
Grand Opening
Set to open in spring 2026, the hotel will consist of 52 new hotel rooms with the same uncompromising quality as the rest of Great Northern. The expansion makes it possible to welcome even more guests warmly to Kerteminde in Funen.
A stay at Great Northern becomes a 5-star experience of exceptional quality – both physically and mentally. The ambition is to create the same atmosphere and tone that one experiences at Great Northern today. The quality of materials is continued in the new construction, although several are replaced with materials that have a more sustainable profile.
In general, all new visible materials in the project come directly from nature's own palette, primarily wood, clay, and natural stone. All new materials must have great durability and patinate beautifully, just as they can be repaired if the need should arise. The resort consider the maintenance possibility very important, as the lifespan is thereby considerably extended.

The new hotel integrates closely with Great Northern's existing buildings and landscapes, and therefore the new building is designed based on the site's strong characteristics, materials, and atmosphere. Nature has always played a leading role at Great Northern. This is only reinforced in the new hotel, where everything is arranged so that the experience of nature is enhanced. The hotel's design lies like a tensioned arch that embraces the landscape and provides space for nature to come very close and be experienced as an integrated part of your hotel experience.

Each of the 52 hotel rooms and suites has a wide and uninterrupted view of the landscape. Here "undisturbed" is the keyword – both physically and mentally. The interior design of the hotel rooms is based on the greatest possible openness toward the landscape, to provide a strong experience of nature, light, and spaciousness.
The hotel room is tailored to the experience, and everything strives for well-proportioned spaciousness, so that guests feel comfortable. You can see ceiling and floor continue from room to room, so each function 'borrows' space from each other and becomes larger. Both inside and outside.
