The 19th Hole We Actually Recommend

Play a morning round in Dyrehaven at Copenhagen Golf Club, or tee off early at Simon's Golf Club, and you'll have plenty of time to make it back to Vesterbro before the weekend really gets going. Right in the heart of the original Carlsberg Brewery, Copenhagen keeps one of its cosiest secrets: the Friday bar at Home of Carlsberg.

This isn't a tourist trap – it's where the locals themselves show up. On the last Friday of the month from April to September, the Brewery Yard fills with ice-cold draught beer, DJ tunes, and an atmosphere that beats the best 19th hole. Games in the yard, grilled food from Madklubben, and friends, families and colleagues celebrating another fine summer evening together – this is genuine Copenhagen life, not a show for visitors.

Take the Metro straight to Enghave Plads, and try to arrive a little before 4pm, before the Friday bar really gets going. There's plenty to see before the music kicks in:

-The Sculpture Garden – free entry, open 10am-8pm all summer. See a selection of brewer Carl Jacobsen's private art collection, including the sister sculpture to The Little Mermaid by Edvard Eriksen.

-The Stables – meet the original brewery horses and admire the preserved vintage cars, including the "Barrel Car" from 1931, which once supplied Copenhagen's pubs with draught beer.

-The Exhibitions – dive into Carlsberg's history, science and family drama before finding your spot in the yard.

Home of Carlsberg Fridays runs the last Friday of the month, 4-9pm, through September – the perfect way to end a golf day in Copenhagen, where a round of golf in Copenhagen Golf Club, The Scandinavian or Simon's Golf Club in the morning meet golden draught beer in the afternoon.
